September Staff Spotlight - Mr. Dennison

By: Elizabeth Sutherland

For this new school year, PJSHS is excited to welcome new assistant principal, Kyle Dennison, to the administration! He is enthusiastic to be starting this school year with us, helping out alongside Mr. Thole.

Mr. Dennison grew up in Kewanee, IL, not too far from Princeville. For college, he attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and studied elementary education. Mr. Dennison was also a sports star, playing basketball for St. Ambrose in addition to his studies! From an education standpoint, he shared that the reason that drew him to be an educator was his passion for helping students. He enjoys helping kids to persevere and overcome challenges that they never thought they could achieve. When I asked him if he had any bits of wisdom for students, his advice was, “Have confidence in yourself and do not be afraid of failure.“ Encouraging words not for just students, but anyone who needs an inspiring word. Along with this advice he adds another of his favorite inspirational quotes, “As an educator/coach, I promise you that I will always be in one of three places: In front of you to cheer you on, behind you to have your back, and next to you so you are not walking alone.”

On another note, Mr. Dennison also shared some lesser known fun facts about himself too, showing his fun side as a principal. Something that not a lot of people know about is that his whole family including his mom, dad, and sister all have red hair. Oh and don’t forget that they were all born in the month of October too. I guess it runs in the family! It’s also no surprise that Mr. Dennison is a sports fan, as he has come to support some of the PHS fall sports programs like volleyball so far this year. He has been an active L.A. Rams NFL football fan since 2001, even when the Rams were still affiliated with St. Louis. And last but not least, he has an adorable pet Poochon dog named Hazel, who is almost 2 years old.

So if you see Mr. Dennison while out and about, make sure to give him a warm Princeville welcome! We hope to have him for many more years to come.
