Congratulations to our recently promoted and tenured lab director, Dr. Kwan! Dr. Kwan will officailly be an associate professor in the Department of Psychology starting September 1st. Her tenure at Hofstra will begin next year!

Graduate students Tanya Verma and Kyra Citron traveled to the Netherlands to present at ICED 2026. Lab CARES shares shines across four posters and one presentation! Tanya presented a poster on negative life events, suicide risk, and binge eating. Kyra presented a poster on anhedonia assessment and gave a presentation on urgency, pleasure, and binge eating. Tanvi Pawar shared two posters looking at eating disorder symptoms in the context of grief and in relation to social support!

Dr. Kwan traveled to Spain to attend the APS 2026 Annual Convention. She presented a poster on the impact of emotional dyregulation on the relationship between social distress and excessive exercise!

Graduate student Angelique Simeone presented her poster on exessive reasurance seeking and suicide risk at the 5th Annual Suicide Resaerch Symposium in April 2026! A few weeks later, she was able to share her work with the Hofstra community at the annual Graduate Student Research Day! Check back soon for an article on Angelique's work!

Lab CARES and friends attended the 2026 Long Island NEDA fair! Together, we raised over $6,000 to support the National Eating Disorder Association!

Congratulations to graduate student Kyra Citron on receiving the Student Diversity Research Award! This award will support Kyra's research on the effects of weight bias and misgendering among transgender adults.
