Our Health and Physical Education program supports students to develop physical skills, resilience, and wellbeing while fostering teamwork and healthy lifestyles. From Years 8 to 10, students engage in core Health and Physical Education studies and can take part in Vertical Electives such as Competitive Sport.
In years 11 and 12, pathways can include VET programs alongside the VCE or VCE Vocational Major providing opportunities for students to pursue sport, health, and fitness-related interests.

This elective is designed for students who are passionate about sports and enjoy the challenge of competitive gameplay. Participants will have the opportunity to select from a variety of sports, allowing them to focus on both skill and strategy development. The course emphasizes extensive game time, providing students with a platform to apply their skills in a dynamic and engaging environment. Whether students seek to refine their abilities or simply enjoy the spirit of competition, this elective offers an ideal outlet for their energy.
What will you study?
In Units 1 and 2 students explore health and wellbeing across youth and the early stages of the human lifespan. Students examine different dimensions of health, factors influencing the health of young people, nutrition and strategies for improving youth health. They also study the transition from youth to adulthood, prenatal and childhood development, Australia’s health system, health literacy and young people’s access to health services. The subject would provide useful background for pathways in youth work, community services, mental health and social work.
Outcomes unit 1:
Students should be able to explain multiple dimensions of health and wellbeing, explain indicators used to measure health status and analyse sociocultural factors that contribute to variations in the health status of youth.
Students should be able to interpret data to identify key areas for improving youth health and wellbeing, and analyse one youth health area in detail.
Student should be able to apply nutrition information, food selection models and initiatives to evaluate nutrition information.
Outcomes Unit 2:
Students should be able to explain developmental changes in the transition from youth to adulthood, analyse factors that contribute to healthy development during the prenatal and early childhood stages of the human lifespan and explain health and wellbeing as an intergenerational concept.
Students should be able to explain factors affecting access to Australia’s health system that contribute to health literacy and promote the health and wellbeing of youth.
