Slow/Laggy Connection

  • Switch off Data and join WiFi to see if that helps. Both Data and WiFi should not be turned on at the same time. One or the other; not both. Check this setting regularly! Sometimes both WiFi and Data are activated automatically if one drops its service.

  • If using WiFi, move closer to the home router or move the router high up on a shelf and away from things that may block the signal, like chimneys. VILS Chromebooks can be connected to WiFi via a hotspot.

  • When using LTE data, how close or far you are from a cell tower and the number of other cell users also using that tower can slow down internet speed and cause a lag. We know this is a problem with many carriers in North Portland.
