Using the Stylus

Your VILS Chromebook comes with with a stylus and can fold into a tablet! You could use this feature for handwriting notes, sketching and drawing. Watch the video to see where the stylus is stored on the Chromebook and how to use it properly.

Update a PPS Chromebook

When you open your new Chromebook you should update it manually. After that, Chromebooks usually update themselves as needed and prompt you to restart when they are done.

  1. Click through the slideshow at left. You will need to be on WiFi to update your Chromebook.

  2. An update can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to 30 minutes depending upon WiFi speed and when it was last updated.

  3. If possible, allow the Chromebook some time to be on but not in use for a while after the restart.

How to update a Chromebook

Sign In To a PPS Chromebook

  1. Power device on by opening it or pushing the power button on the right side. If out of power, plug it in.

  2. Do NOT click "Next," instead pick "Sign in with a different account"

  3. Enter your student username up until the @student.pps.net, as this part is already filled in for you.

  4. When prompted, enter your password. If you do not know your password contact your school.

Connect to WiFi at Home

If your Chromebook says LTE in the bottom, right corner, it is using data. It is important that students use WiFi whenever it is available.

  1. Log in and click on the clock in the bottom, right corner of your screen to open the menu.

  2. Look for the wedge-shaped WiFi icon and click to to find a list of WiFi networks.

  3. Click the one that you want, enter the password if needed, then click Connect.
