Professional Development Information:
In October, PPS typically offers a new teacher orientation day which includes information about getting started with your curriculum.
In order to have access to the secure work samples that the district has created to go along with the CMP units, you will need to be trained on the state scoring guide. This training is available on the web, check out the MS Work Samples page.
College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) - Grades 9-12:
CPM (Compacted Year 1 & 2, 8th Grade Math):
- CPM Algebra Connections Chapters 1-6 are used in 8th grade Common Core.
- Compacted Year 1 includes Chapters 1-4.
- Compacted Year 2 includes Chapters 5-12.
- CY1 and 8th grade Common Core should use the purple covered copies of chapters 1-6. Extra copies can be ordered from the Print Shop.
- Compacted Year 2 students will need the textbooks (usually hardbound). Extra copies can be ordered from textbooks. The district provided graphing calculator set is for use with Compacted Year 2 students. These students should get priority use of these materials.
**Materials in the teacher's edition can be found on the CD in the back of the TE. If you do not have one, you can order them from textbooks.
The Compacted Year 2 course includes a supplement from CPM for Common Core topics not covered in the books. It is called Algebra Supplement and printed on white with black bindings. Extra copies can be ordered from the Print Shop.
**You will likely have to share these resources with the other math teachers or order copies.
