1. Understand what financial aid is, and why you should apply

2. Get a list of places where you can go to apply for financial aid

Financial aid is money to help you pay for college. Obviously that makes it crucial for students who need help paying for college (which is most students). 

There are various forms of financial aid, here is a list and a short description for each:

1. Scholarships - money you can use to pay for college costs, you compete with other students to get it

2. Grants - money you can use to pay for college costs, if you qualify, apply and there are still funds available, you will receive it

3. Work-Study - working while in college

4. Loans - money you borrow to pay for college costs, you will have to pay it back with interest

Getting Started:

1. Fill out the FAFSA or ORSAA - FAFSA is for students with a social security number, ORSAA is for those without one. 

   • These open October 1st of every year
