Luxherta Buzi is a research scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where she specializes in low-temperature plasma-material interactions for semiconductor processing. She earned a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Tirana, Albania, and later pursued a Ph.D. in Nuclear Fusion Science and Engineering through a collaborative program with Gent University, Lorraine University, FZJ, DIFFER, and UCSD. Her doctoral research focused on the interaction of hot plasma with the inner walls of magnetically confined fusion reactors. After completing her PhD, Dr. Buzi joined Princeton University as a postdoctoral fellow, where she investigated lithium as a plasma-facing material, utilizing surface science techniques to deepen the understanding of plasma-material interactions in fusion reactors. Dr. Buzi is a co-Principal Investigator of the PlasMat2D project.
