ELMIC is one of three Microelectronics Science Research Centers (MSRCs) launched in 2024 with a total of $179 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The DOE program leading to these awards originated from the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The winning projects were selected by competitive peer review under the DOE Laboratory Announcement “Microelectronics Science Research Center Projects for Energy Efficiency and Extreme Environments.”
ELMIC coordinates efforts across its four projects to maximize the center’s impact on microelectronics. ELMIC promotes collaborations between projects through inter-project meetings, exchange visits, and the sharing of key resources.
