Cessna 182 Skylane “Power Monster Cross Flow” TM
Bolt-On Horsepower, a complete replacement of your aircraft's original exhaust system and FAA approved by STC for all Cessna 182 series aircraft powered by Continental / Pponk / Northpoint / AirPlains / Texas Skyways O- & I/O- 470, 520, & 550 engines.
The Power Monster Cross Flow(PMCF) system has been in operation around the world for over 15 years. Originally developed by Leading Edge Exhaust Systems (LEES) of Anchorage, Alaska for working airplanes that demand performance and reliability. It is rugged and robust adding durability and safety for many flight hours.
In 2019 Power Flow Systems Inc., acquired the LEES assets and spent nearly three years re-engineering the original designs to improve manufacturability and overall quality. Production of the "New & Improved" PMCF system launched in early 2021 and there are now well over 350 of the new systems installed and flying worldwide. Power Flow is the sole manufacturer of these high-performance systems for the Cessna 180, 182 and 185 airframes.

'Quick Off' style Two Piece Tailpipes shown above.
One Piece Tailpipes featured below in polished and ceramic finish on both a SeaPlanes West engine mount and regular Cessna engine mount.
One Piece or Two Piece 'Quick Off' Style Tailpipes
Because our exhaust are a True Dual exhaust, we offer two different tailpipe options for our Cessna 182 customers. the One Piece and the Quick Offs both have the same appearance when the aircraft is cowled. Our one piece single left hand and right hand exiting tailpipes are for airframe that are able to remove the lower cowling down and aft about 3 inches. If your Skylane has a lower Cowling Speed Mod, or Fairing, this is what our Quick Off are designed for. Not sure? - Send us photos!
If your Skylane is on and off floats, amphibs, skies or has cowling mods that require extra angles to remove the cowling. The quick off tailpipes are cut at the lower cowling line with two lower tailpipes that are pin clamped in place. This makes removing and re-installing the lower cowl easier if you have additional hardware on the aircraft. Please contact us if you have questions and we'll be happy to help you select the best option for your particular cofiguration.

Polished Finish or Ceramic Coated Tailpipes?
The Ceramic Coated tailpipe is a cosmetic enhancement that hides the heat induced discoloration that is characteristic of stainless steel (think of the "bluing" you see on the muffler of a motorcycle).
This discoloration has absolutely no effect on performance or reliability but the ceramic coating covers it up permanently. Otherwise, the polished tailpipe begins to discolor after a few hours of flying time. It can be re-polished anytime, but if you are proud of your Cessna's appearance and would rather spend your time flying than polishing, the ceramic is a nice feature to have.
A Word To The Wise:
We strongly recommend that the aircraft's propeller be dynamically balanced to within 0.2 ips (inches per second) upon installation of the Power Flow System and every two to four years thereafter or whenever the propeller is removed and reinstalled . If the propeller is dynamically balanced within 25 flight hours of the installation (before or after) of the Power Flow System and you furnish PFS with copies of the logbook entries confirming this, PFS will extend the warranty on the Tuned Exhaust System from 12 months to 24 months or 500 Flight Hours (whichever occurs first).
Doing so every 2 - 4 years thereafter will dramatically improve the useful life and the reliability of every component that is bolted to the engine, including the Power Flow System.
Still not sure if a Power Flow is right for you and your airplane? For complete peace of mind, check out our:
Warranty & Guarantee

Challenger Air Filter
The Challenger air filter replaces the disposable foam filter media found on most aircraft with K&N's high efficiency reusable filter media which provides up to three times more air flow to the intake manifold of the engine. Power Flow's Testing of the Challenger Aviation air filter is a great complimentary product to the Power Flow tuned exhaust. We conducted our own tests to justify claims on this product and our results were as follows:
Definite boost in MAP
Increase of 10-15 RPM
More power generated on take-off
Engine was able to "breathe" better
Challenger Aviation Advertised Benefits:
Increased horsepower
Increase in RPM or Manifold Pressure
Reported fuel savings of .3 to .5 gallons per hour
Uses K&N re-cleanable air filter media
Up to 50% more air flow with the same dirt holding capability
NO AD's
Installs into factory location
Up to 25 recharges or 2500 hrs
As mentioned above, the filter media itself is reusable. You just clean it and recharge it (coat it with oil so the dust sticks to it) once a year during annual and you can reuse it up to 25 times or 2,500 flight hours. Since the Challenger system significantly improves the intake side of your Cessna's engine at a very reasonable cost, we consider it to be the perfect complement to our Tuned Exhaust System which significantly improves the exhaust side.
"The exhaust far exceeds my expectations! I get better fuel flow and hour, 1 Gallon an hour better. I get 30 degree cooler CHT's. I get 4 - 5 MPH better cruise at 24/24.I climb better and have shooter take offs on land and water. The HP increase is as advertised. What a great product!" - C. Christenson / N212CC / 1966 C-182K w/ O-520 / Installed 02/22
"Felt like a much quicker climb and cruise. Was IAS of 185 MPH w/ 6 kt tail wind, so was at 152 mph. Normal same route saw a little 23/23 sq (?) was about 140 mph. Looks very nice with Maple Leaf fairings and ceramic tips" - V. Toornburg / N9522C / 1969 C-182N w/ O-470 / Installed 12/22
"Very good product, more power, less temperature in cylinder, header, working very good" - W. Bax / N5727N / 1977 C-A185F w/ I/O-520 / Installed 12/22
"On initial start up, I noticed the louder more "throaty" sound. My wife was amazed at the takeoff performance, as was I. It seems to have increased the power and am anxious to see how it performs at different settings. Overall very pleased with the system. In subsequent flight, here are some observations. There is more take off power. CHT's are 15 degrees cooler to date. Speed has increased 5 knots at control settings (not anticipated)." - D. Atwood / N3444F / 1966 C-182J w/ O-470 / Installed 03/23
