CORI Forms for Volunteers
An important reminder to all caregivers that in order to volunteer in a classroom or attend a field trip, caregivers must complete a CORI form. CORI forms can be filled out in the Potter Road office Monday-Friday from 9:30-2:30. Please bring a photo identification when completing the form.
If a caregiver does not have an active CORI on file, they will not be allowed to volunteer.
What makes Potter Road unique?
Potter Road Elementary is a Dual Language School, where many students learn in both English and (Brazillian) Portuguese. Our volunteers help support a vibrant, multicultural learning environment that celebrates language, culture, and community.
Do I need to speak both English and Portuguese to volunteer?
Not at all!
Volunteers are welcome whether they speak English, Portuguese, both, or neither fluently. Many volunteer roles require no language skills beyond a willingness to help.
What types of volunteer opportunities are available?
Potter Road offers a wide range of ways to get involved, including:
Classroom support
Library help
PTO events and fundraisers
Book fairs
Field trips
School celebrations and cultural events
Teacher appreciation activities
Office or organizational support
There’s a place for every schedule, skill set, and comfort level.
Do I need a CORI background check?
Yes.
All volunteers must complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check through Framingham Public Schools.
This is required for the safety of all students and staff.
How do I complete a CORI check?
Visit the Potter Road main office to fill out the CORI form
Bring a valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
CORI approval must be completed before volunteering in any capacity
CORI checks must be renewed periodically, so returning volunteers may need to update theirs.
How often can I volunteer?
As often or as little as you’d like. Some volunteers help weekly, while others participate only at special events. All contributions are appreciated.
Can family members volunteer too?
Yes! Parents, guardians, grandparents, and other approved caregivers are welcome — as long as they complete the CORI process.
What if I’m not available during school hours?
There are plenty of ways to help outside the school day, including:
PTO planning
Event preparation
At‑home tasks (cutting, sorting, assembling materials)
Evening or weekend events
Your time and talents are valuable no matter when you’re available.
Who do I contact if I want to volunteer?
You can reach out to the Potter Road PTO or the school office for current opportunities, CORI information, and upcoming events.
Why does volunteer support matter?
Volunteers help enrich the school experience for every student by:
Supporting teachers
Strengthening community connections
Enhancing cultural and immersion activities
Making events and programs possible
Your involvement truly makes a difference
Let’s keep it 100: We know you’re busy. You have a job, a laundry pile the size of Everest, and a kid who just "remembered" they need a poster board for tomorrow morning. The last thing you want is another full-time commitment.
Good news: Joining the PTO isn't a life sentence! Whether you have forty hours a month or forty seconds to click "Like" on our updates, there is a place for you here. We don’t care if you’re a "Professional Volunteer" or a "Help from my Couch" type of person—we just want you in the mix.
The "Silent Partner": You pay your dues, read the emails, and cheer us on from afar. You’re the backbone of our funding, and we love you for it.
The "One-Hit Wonder": You sign up for one specific event. You show up, hand out juice boxes, and vanish into the night like a suburban legend.
The "Virtual Liaison": You help us manage the Facebook group or design a flyer during your lunch break. No pants required.
The "Lifer": You’re at every meeting and know exactly where the extra napkins are hidden. (We will protect you at all costs).
Because when we show up together, the school gets better. We’re talkin’ better playground gear, cooler field trips, and teachers who feel like the rockstars they are. Plus, we occasionally have snacks at the meetings. (Okay, sometimes they're just leftover cookies, but still.)
The Fine Print: We promise not to corner you in the parking lot and force you to lead the Talent Show. Unless you really want to. Then we should talk.
No capes required, but highly encouraged.
Our annual Sweetheart Dance is just around the corner, and we’re looking for a few good hearts to help make it a night to remember. Whether you’re a master of the "Cha-Cha Slide" or just really good at handing out napkins, we have a spot for you!
🧁 The Great Dessert Bar
We are looking for donations of delicious desserts—cakes, cupcakes, brownies, or cookies. If it’s sweet and shareable, we want it!
Bonus points if it’s heart-shaped, but we aren't picky about our sugar.
🙋♀️ Volunteer Squad Goals
Not a baker? No problem! We need "Day-of" heroes to help with:
The Setup Crew: Helping us turn the cafeteria inta an "Enchanted Ballroom."
Dessert Wranglers: Keeping an eye on the Dessert Bar.
The Clean-Up Hype Team: Because nothing says "community" like helping us fold 50 chairs at the end of the night.
(Warning: Signing up may result in accidental fun and a temporary sugar high.)
No time to stay? Just dropping off a store-bought treat for the Dessert Walk is a huge help. Every cookie counts!
