I have had the great pleasure of working as a school counselor for the last thirteen years, love working with students and their families, and I love Portland High! I so enjoy getting to know students real lives and experiences, advocating for them as needed, and supporting them to advocate for themselves. It is truly fun supporting students as they plan for their educations, work and lives after high school.

Outside of school, I love body surfing and hanging out at the beach, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

For over twenty years, I have served as a Maine school counselor for both private and public high school students and their families. Supporting students with their individual academic and social/emotional needs is a passion for me. I enjoy the energy each student brings to the counseling relationship! I work hard to advocate for my students and strive to have them advocate for themselves.

After school hours, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, hitting the gym, traveling, shopping or relaxing on the beach with a good book!

I've enjoyed being a School Counselor in Maine since 2009. I believe all students deserve support in their education and in planning for their future. It's incredibly rewarding to partner with students and families in our community and to help identify and reach their goals. I am also the co-leader of our school's GSA.

Outside of school I enjoy being with my children, writing and reading, hiking, and baking.

Hi! I'm Ms. Emerson. I've been a School Counselor for 11 years and I. LOVE. MY. CAREER! It's so fulfilling to help students discover their unique path, and I thrive on creating supportive, trusting relationships with my students. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family, including my new son and Westie. I enjoy traveling (and have done a study abroad in Italy & work abroad in Scotland!), reading Harry Potter & mysteries, listening to podcasts and celebrity gossip.
