So you've seen an opportunity for external funding you'd like to put in a bid for -- what next? First, complete the Intention to Apply form on the university's intranet page. This sends automatic notifications to us as a team, colleagues in finance, and in other relevant departments, so that we can get in touch to help support you through both the internal and external processes.
Where possible, please give us as much notice as possible before the deadline for your call, ideally at least 10-12 weeks. This allows plenty of time for us to complete our internal checks and authorisations. It's never 'too early' to put in an ITA!
Especially for large bids, it is important to get your team organised as early as possible. Please see this example proposal schedule from Prof Mark Reed, who recommends starting your bid planning 3 months in advance.
You can also use the ARI site to see which topics are aligned with current government policy, which can make them more likely to be the subject of upcoming funding calls.
