As a faculty, we have an incredible resource on our doorstep in the form of the CCIXR centre, which specialises in extended reality.
The CCIXR team welcome academic collaboration. If you have a project idea which you think would be a good fit for them, get in touch at ccixr@port.ac.uk. Some of the ways in which CCIXR can help your project are:
SmartStage used for Virtual Production in Film and Television: 360 environments can be built in Unreal Games Engine and presenters immersed in that environment. Alternatively 360 images and films can be used. Outputs can be live streamed across social media platforms.
Volumetric Suite: Captures 360 film. Content can then be incorporated into VR environments or used for AR.
Photogrammetry Suite: Captures high res 360 images. We also have a Lidar scanner and Creaform scanner to allow us to scan objects and environments off site.
Motion Capture Suite: Movement is captured to bring virtual characters to life. Our new studio features facilities for full-body, facial and hand capture.
XR Suite: Our XR suite has a number of VR platforms, haptic devices and headsets for viewing and testing content.
