Nouns
Goal: Students will be able to identify what a noun is. Students will be able to sort nouns, and identify a noun within a sentence. Students will understand the difference between a common and proper noun.
You are about to watch several videos about nouns. The videos will explain what a noun is, different examples of nouns, and identifying nouns within a sentence, along with common nouns vs. proper nouns. I have split the week up into days.
At the end of each days lesson is an assessment. Assessments can be found at school or on Google Docs.
Day 1 what is a noun?
Questions to ask after:
- What is a noun?
- Tell me a noun for each category (person, place, animal, and thing)
- Name something and have your child tell you what it is

Day 2 identifying nouns within sentences.
Questions to ask your child:
- What is the job of the noun in a sentence?
- What helps you determine a noun in sentence?
- Share a sentence and have your child find the nouns.
