Why Grammar?
Below are some reasons and resources around Grammar within our District.
- Our school District does not have its own curriculum to teach grammar so we add it into Readers and Writers workshop
- Therefore, students need this extra practice on grammar
- Grammar is not only writing but speaking as well, this extra practice will benefit students with both
- This online grammar check is also an opportunity for your child to show you what they know, and engage in learning with YOU! :)
Communication:

I will communicate with you through the course with guidance. I will provide goals within each lesson. There will be information explaining the layout of each lesson and how to follow the course. Also, I will provide information on expectations for the assessment such as where you can find it and how to receive a reward for doing it. There are also questions to participate to help engage with you and your child after each lesson.
Students will be expected to communicate with each other the following week of each lesson. They will be put in groups to share with each other as well as with the class as they reflect on their learning. They will share examples and real world situations. This will help develop their mastery of learning grammar in first grade.
Students will be given feedback when they have completed an assessment. Students will have the opportunity to redo assignments until they have mastered, or learned the material within each lesson. These are not graded however students will be marked as complete and rewarded for each turned in activity.
