Dear Nursery B Parents,
The children returned from Spring Break with wonderfully upbeat energy. They cheerfully greeted their friends and quickly settled back into familiar classroom routines. We welcomed April with joyful poetry readings, using books such as Guess Who Haiku and Poetry Speaks to Children as inspiring introductions. After listening to several poems, it was heartwarming to hear the children’s responses. Some shared how the poems made them feel, while others noticed how the poets “played with words.” Already, the children are asking to revisit their favorite poems.
Our exploration of the Bird Study unit continues to deepen, with a significant focus on hands-on activities such as sewing and stuffing the birds’ bodies with poly-fil. In addition to crafting their birds and exploring various books, the children will soon utilize our classroom iPads to gather more information about their chosen birds using the PebbleGo app.
This week, we explored the formation and initial sound of the letter T. It has been exciting to see the children eagerly raising their hands to share words that begin with T. They have also been extending their learning during Letter Tray activities, often generating even more T words. One student even excitedly pointed out to a classmate that “tray” starts with the letter T!
We celebrated two birthdays this week!
Happy Birthday, Max!
Happy Birthday, Zhuri!
Congratulations to Dylan, who proudly presented the poem I Am the Wind by Isadora Duncan to the class and the oratory committee.
Just in case you’re wondering, in one of the video clips in the photo section, the children created a game at recess called Battery and are using their bodies to demonstrate charged and uncharged batteries!
We are confirmed for three field trips!
Brooklyn Botanic Garden, April 28
Prospect Park Zoo, May7
Fire Station, May 12
We are asking for five parents per trip. This way each family will be included as chaperone for one trip. Please use the sign up Link.
