Dear Nursery B Parents,
Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate!
There is definitely a feeling of celebration in the air in Nursery B. The children have been engaged in numerous activities that demonstrate their learning, and they can’t wait to share their work with you.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, December 18, at 8:45 AM for our Celebration of Learning presentation. We are incredibly proud of the children’s work and eager to share it with you. The presentation is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, and we aim to begin promptly at 8:45 AM.
The children’s dedication to the tasks at hand is truly commendable. Very rarely do we need to negotiate for individual time, as they are eager to work one-on-one with their teachers. The activities were designed to promote critical thinking, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and early literacy and mathematical thinking. The children happily worked one-on-one with their teachers on these projects, thoughtfully explaining their work while allowing their creativity to shine.
The Letter of the Week was the letter I. We are very pleased to see the ongoing excitement the children continue to bring to this weekly activity. Following the group lesson, each child used ink to decorate a printed letter I.
This week we also visited Ms. Ely’s classroom to see a display of Second Graders 3D neighborhoods. The display includes, farmacias, escuelas, apartamentos, bodegas, and around 5 cines (movie theaters).
Here is a list of items to look out for:
“I AM…”, inspired by the book Looking Like Me by Walter Dean Myers:
This book is also our AARA selection for the month. After coloring a reflective drawing the children reflected on and shared roles they see as part of their self-identity.
Holiday wreaths, inspired by collections from nature.
Thankful watercolor illustrations:
These beautiful pieces reflect the children’s gratitude and what they are thankful for.
Letter of the Week collection:
It is wonderful to see the children’s excitement and engagement in these activities.
Individual hand rolled candles
Each child will have a blue folder on the table to take home. We will also be sending home all rest items to be laundered over the break. Please bring a bag so we can send these items home.
A special thank you to Jenna, Sam’s mom, for visiting and sharing the story of Hanukkah with us. Jenna also read the fun book Latke, the Lucky Dog, and Sam handed out dreidels during Choice Time for a festive and enjoyable dreidel game.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support—we look forward to celebrating together!
Reminder: Next Friday, December 19 is a 12:00 PM Dismissal;
