thanksgiving food distribution/distribución de alimentos de acción de gracias

This Friday, 11/17/23 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Sun Valley Recreation Center, Polytechnic High School and Sun Valley Recreation Center will be distributing turkeys and boxes of dried/canned goods to the first 50 families in line. All food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Bringing a wagon to help transport food boxes is highly recommended. We hope to see you there! 


Este viernes, 11/17/23 de 5 p.m. a 7 p.m. en el Centro Recreativo de Sun Valley, la Escuela Secundaria Polytechnic y el Centro Recreativo de Sun Valley distribuirán pavos y cajas de productos secos/enlatados a las primeras 50 familias en la fila. Toda la comida se distribuirá por orden de llegada. Se recomienda encarecidamente llevar una carreta para ayudar a transportar las cajas de comida. ¡Esperamos verte ahí!

location & parking

The 2023 Parrotfest will take place at Polytechnic High School at 12431 Roscoe Blvd. Sun Valley, CA 91352 at the faculty lot on the corner of Arleta and Roscoe (Lot 2). If you will be attending the event, please use lots 3-8 to park and walk over to Lot 2. If all lots are full, please find street parking. Lot 1 is for vendors only, and there will be no OUT from this lot until the event is over at 8:30. We hope to be able to accommodate everyone's parking needs, but if you are unable to immediately find parking, please be patient and flexible!

quarter 3 community resource fair 

On 2/9/23, Poly will be hosting its third Community Resource Fair during our schedule Parent Conference Night from 5:30-7:00. After picking up report cards and checking in with teachers, be sure to swing by the cafetorium to meet with the 15 confirmed who are ready to share valuable resources and programs with our school community. 

In addition, we are excited to announce that during this evening, our newest partner, Southern California Medical Center, will be providing COVID, COVID booster, and flu vaccinations on site to all interested members of the school community (while supplies last). They will also be distributing children's books, PPE, and assisting with CalFresh and MediCal enrollment. 

We hope to see you all there!

Poly Community Cooking Nights is BACK! We're SO EXCITED to offer the Fall Harvest Edition of our Community Cooking Nights. Join us on 10/25, 10/26, 11/1, and 11/2 from 4:00-6:00 as Chef Garcia teaches you how to put together a beautiful fall feast. Check the graphic for menu and schedule details. All Poly students and staff are invited to register. Students may bring ONE parent or guardian. Register by submitting the form to the right. Space IS limited, so hurry!

Our Back to School Night featured our first community school resource fair. Students and their families were able to meet our wellness and community partners and even picked up some treats along the way. Featured providers included Wellbeing Center, PPLA, our school nurse, PSW Sheila Alfaro, KYDS, and PTSA.

Many families are still feeling the devastating effects of the pandemic, specifically in the area of financial insecurity. In fact, close to 50% of the students we surveyed this past October indicated they needed support in the form of job assistance. As an official LAUSD Community School, our stakeholders' voices are the primary drivers of the programs and events we offer our community, so when they speak, we listen.In direct response to our student needs survey, Poly is proud to announce our 2022 Job Readiness Week and Job Fair. El Nido Culinary To-Go Program @ Poly

On 11/16, several Poly families picked up a box of fresh groceries and participated in two virtual cooking classes with El Nido's Chef Max Kaplan on 11/16 AND 11/18. Here are some of the families who participated showing off their freshly made potato taquitos with roasted tomatoes and cauliflower crema. Yum!

In this 6 series workshop, PPLA presenters will guide parents through topics ranging from substance abuse in youth, anger and stress management, to how to set clear expectations.
