Meet The Teacher

Hi,  I am Shelly Hooper Bentley, and this is my thirtieth year teaching, with twenty-four of them being here at Cherokee Elementary School.  Currently, I am teaching ESOL, grades K-5.  I have experience teaching all grades, Pre-K through 5th.  I am married to Michael Bentley and have two beautiful daughters, Savannah and Sadie.  Family is everything to me!  My hobbies include photography, reading, lake life, and listening to music.  I am passionate about children and watching them learn is the highlight of my job. Together, we can make a difference.

Teaching Philosophy
My Philosophy of Education is that every child should feel safe and comfortable in my classroom.  My classroom should be an environment full of nurturing and enriching experiences.  Students should feel that school is more than just learning; it is a place where they can come for guidance, structured routine, and feel loved.  My hope is that children will leave my classroom with a sense of accomplishment while feeling successful, challenged, and loved just by being themselves.
