Meeting all the different people here at POBMS!
What is your favorite color?
Green
What would you do if you were not a teacher?
I wanted to teach ever since I was a little girl. I honestly don't even know what I would do if I didn't teach!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Play with my daughter and take my dog for walks
Do you like teaching in the morning better or afternoon?
Depends on how crazy the kids are!
What subjects do you teach?
Currently, I teach ELA and Social studies
What's your favorite food?
I love penne ala vodka. I even named my dog after it!!
What is your dream vacation spot?
I would love to travel to Greece and Italy
Why did you start teaching the newspaper club?
I wanted to help spread all the good published pieces and also I am a ELA teacher

How long have you been teaching?
18 years in total, 11 in POB and seven in a previous district called!
What is your favorite food?
Meatloaf and baked potatoes
Have you taught any other grade?
I’ve taught sixth grade in my other district but I have only taught fifth grade in POB.
Where’s your favorite place to be?
At school or the beach.
If you could choose any other career, would you still choose teaching?
Yes, it’s a second career for me and I would still choose to be a teacher. I would like to be an archaeologist too.
What makes a good day at school for you?
Being able to help students, if they come in with a smile and leave with a smile, I’m happy. Also if they learn something along the way.
Do you have any traditions for the first ay of school?
I do, I always ask if kids are nervous, and say that I am too. I also read Pops Bridge by Eve Bunting to show that we’re all part of a team.
If you won the lottery, would you give up teaching, and what would you buy first?
I wouldn’t give up teaching but there would be a fancy old car in the parking lot.
What’s your favorite unit to teach?
I love all of social studies, but my favorite unit would be the fantasy unit in ELA.
Why did you pick teaching as a career?
Iv’e always liked to help people; I was in the fire department at first; and my friends always asked me to help their kids with homework. My wife suggested to start up on teaching, and it just stuck.
What is your favorite movie?
There is a really cheesy and old movie called “The Land that Time Forgot”. I loved it as a kid and I still enjoy watching it even though it is so cheesy.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Going to my grandparent’s house in Port Jefferson and just being with them.
