Essential Characteristics of a
Multi-grade Teacher
My Insight/Reflection:
In this lesson, I've learned that a Multi-grade teacher should be creative, flexible, well-organized, resourceful. willing to work for the community, working hard, self-directed, and professional and qualified
This is my explanation on why I choose those characteristics above.
Creative- a multi-grade teacher should balance their responsibilities at once and flexible enough to adjust to the different students that may encounter.
Flexible- a multi-grade teacher must think outside the box especially in designing and presenting a discussion.
Well-organized- a multi-grade teacher addresses a wide range of variety of students so classroom management, lesson planning, classroom space should be structured and highly organized.
Resourceful- the multi-grade setting, the materials, funds, and facilities are lacking that’s why teachers should utilize the use of the limited resources available to them.
Willing to work for the community- in multi-grade teaching, salary is not good, resources are lacking, and you need to adjust to the environment. So, a multi-grade teacher should have the heart to impart knowledge to students and willing to sacrifice their comfortable life for a more challenging one.
Working Hard- multi-teachers should have the passion to work hard, to do their best, and to give for the art needs of the student.
Self-Directed- multi-grade teacher should help the students focus, set goals, and be organized on their learning journey to regulate distractions.
Professional and Qualified-before teaching, a multi-grade teacher should have experience in the field. They will impart knowledge, develop students’ skills, and might teach important life lessons. So, a teacher should be qualified to teach.
