In this game, you use 4 cards and arithmetic signs to make a formula that equals 24.

A(Ace) is 1, J(Jack) is 11, Q (Queen) is 12, K(King) is 13. You can use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and brackets in the formulas.

e.g. (13 - 11) x 12 x 1 = 2 x 12 x 1 = 24 etc.

Remember, all four cards must be used to win.

USING NUMBER SENTENCES TO SOLVE PROBLEMS

Use the sheet I have shared with you in your Maths folder to complete the problems (Here is a link you can also use).

Write a number sentence and then solve the problem.

E.g.

At the bakery, there were 48 biscuits to be put into packs of 6. How many packs did this make?

Number sentence:

48 ÷ 6 = b so b = 8

You will make 8 packs of 6 biscuits.

Solve the one-step equations by figuring out what each letter of the alphabet (variables) represents to complete the maize. The letters of the alphabet represent a number we do not know the value of yet. Remember a number in front of a letter, e.g. 5c means 5 x c (five times c). So if 5c = 25 it means five times a number is equal to 25. So the number has to be 5 (c=5).

If you have, a / 5 it means, a number divided by 5 is equal to ...

q + 8 means, a certain number plus 8 or if you add 8 to a number..

Record your answers on the sheet you normally write your maths answers. E.g.
