Good Reads
Here are some great books and articles for a cozy coffee shop on a rainy day.
Weapons of Math Destruction, by Cathy O'Neil
A fantastic book offering examples of the dangers of data-driven decision making. This should be a required read for graduation.
The Lady Tasting Tea, by D. Salsburg
A fun read about "How Statistics Revolutionized Science in the Twentieth Century"
Past, Present, and Future of Statistical Science, edited by X. Lin et al.
A fun read! Famous Statisticians Tell their Short Stories. Learn about how they "fell into statistics," overcame discrimination, and (almost) accidentally discovered things.
If I'm being vulnerable.... more of my personal favorite books/resources
My favorite podcast: The Gospel in Life
If you have trouble thinking that Jesus is anythhing more than a legend or a good teacher, listen to Tim Keller talk about the greatest story of all time in this episode: The True Story of Jesus.
My favorite Children's book series: (it's a tie)
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (favorite books: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, because Eustace tells my story, and The Horse and His Boy, because the Lion was always there for him.)
The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson
Thanks to Dr. Tom Edgar another new favorite is The Chronicles of Prydain.
