PICK Solo & Ensemble 2023

This coming Saturday, January 28th, we will host our in-house PICK Solo & Ensemble event in the PHSN Performing Arts Wing!

Students will be performing their selected solos and receive feedback in clinics from their adjudicators!  This event is our single most significant event for musical growth all year for our students, and they have been hard at work preparing their performances.

Here are some important DETAILS for the event:

      • Performances begin at 8:36am.

      • Note:  Schedules are drafts and subject to change.

• Scale & Rudiment Requirements are also posted to the above page.

• Attire for this event is “formal” – Students should dress up for this event (no sweatpants, jeans, or clothes with rips/holes in them).  They should look professional, but should NOT wear their Band uniform.

• Audience members may be present to witness both the performance and following clinic from our adjudicators.

• Arrival for performing students should be at least 30 minutes prior to their performance time to ensure proper warm-up time and arriving at their performance room at least 10 minutes prior to their performance.  The building will open at 7:45am.

• Score Copies are the responsibility of the performer to bring to their performance (a copy of their part, original preferred; not the piano part).  This must have every measure numbered.  If they are performing a piece from our Solo & Ensemble library, we will provide the score for the adjudicator.

• Accompanist Fees are partially the responsibility of the performer, and the PHSN Band Boosters cover the remaining portion, as well as fees to hire adjudicators and operate the event.  The student portion of the accompanist fee is due at their final rehearsal during school or at their performance, in the following amounts:

  • • • Class C Solos:  $20

      • Class B Solos:  $25

      • Class A Solos:  $25

Each student has been preparing and is performing a solo as part of this event, and participation in OMEA Solo & Ensemble and/or PICK Solo & Ensemble is graded.
