Learning is, on the whole, active and creative, when children have the opportunity to immerse themselves and their learning environments in the expedition.

It is also a time to discover what children may already know about the expedition and to give them a chance to share what they would like to learn.

In Hook Week, the children read the hook text called The Tunnel. This introduced the idea of going on a journey and allowed the children time to reflect on their own journeys. We then drew a portrait of ourselves, which we used in our final product. These portraits were pencil sketches and we practised our line and blending skills.
