January was a month filled with learning as students returned from break excited for the semester ahead. We also had some exciting visitors at Plessy this past month that you can read more about below!
We're in the Movies!
Over the Martin Luther King Jr. extended weekend, Plessy School had its 15 minutes of fame! We were the site for a Mike Mills (20th Century Women, Beginners, Thumbsucker) film called C'mon! C'mon! This movie also features several Plessy staff members and students who interact with the feature star, Joaquin Phoenix. This is Phoenix's first role since his award winning role in The Joker. It was a fantastic experience for all involved and netted Plessy School $5,000!
February will bring the fun and joy of the Mardi Gras season and we are here for it! Students have already begun working on their shoebox floats in lower school and king cakes are abundant. This month may be short but it sure is packed new projects, partnerships, and celebrations!

So, if you have a favorite family recipe showcasing your ridiculously tasty red beans, we hope you'll participate! This is an equal opportunity challenge, so bring it on carnivores, vegans, and vegetarians!
Music Box Partnership with 8th Grade Science!
Mr. Capdeville's 8th grade science class has officially started their semester long partnership with Music Box! Student had a field trip to research musical houses and structures, have interviewed our 1st and 2nd graders, and are now planning their own sculpture for our backyard.
Their work will be on display for all to see and create music with on April 1st for Plessy's first annual Green Linen Night!
