School Based Therapy Services (SBT)

Bethany for Children & Families employs professional therapists who provide counseling and therapy services within Iowa schools and during school hours for children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral challenges. Bethany therapists can help youth gain effective coping skills, explore positive ways to express their frustration and anger, and help identify life stressors that can impact their emotional well-being.

Who is our SBT at PVJH?

​Mrs. Strobbe-Dean is a licensed independent social worker (LISW) and has been a school-based therapist for 5 years in the Pleasant Valley School District. She received her Masters Degree in Social Work from St. Ambrose University in 2014, after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Work at Loras College.

Mrs. Strobbe-Dean empowers youth to gain the skills necessary to manage their challenges with mental health. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, Adlerian play therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy. She has worked with ages 4-21 on varying issues including ADHD, anger, trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral concerns, self-harm, relationship issues, bullying, grief/loss, and adjustment disorders. Mrs. Strobbe-Dean has an eclectic approach to therapy to help meet each individual’s specific needs.

Outside of school, Mrs. Strobbe-Dean enjoys spending time with her husband, son, family and friends. Other hobbies include going to hockey or baseball games, playing with her boxer dog, going to festivals, boating/fishing, and traveling to new places.
