We’ll continue our study of “Flowers for Algernon” as students dig deeper into theme, character motivation, and text evidence. Students will:
Finish reading “Flowers for Algernon”
Analyze how Charlie’s actions and experiences develop theme
Examine character motivation throughout the story
Use text evidence to support analysis
Review the story’s plot and create a collaborative plot diagram
📝 Testing Reminder: Students will take the FAST PM1 Math assessment on Tuesday and FAST PM1 Reading assessment on Wednesday.
📌 Homework: IXL B.2 — Determine the themes of short stories will be assigned Monday and is due Friday. Students should work toward a SmartScore of 80.

Analyze how Charlie’s actions and motivations contribute to theme
Trace the development of theme throughout the text
Select and analyze text evidence to support a given statement
Apply their understanding of plot through a collaborative analysis activity

Lesson 3 — Explore Reflections: We’ll practice flipping figures across lines of reflection and analyzing how their coordinates change. (Homework will be assigned).
Friday Quiz (Lessons 1–3): We will end the week with a short quiz covering Lessons 1 through 3.

Happy Monday, everyone! Here is our roadmap for the week ahead:
Lesson 1.2 — Solving Multi-Step Equations: We’ll learn how to combine like terms and distribute to solve multi-step equations. (Homework will be assigned).
Lesson 1.3 — Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides: We’ll practice collecting variables on one side of the equation to isolate and solve. (Homework will be assigned).
Friday Quiz (Lessons 1.1–1.3): We will have a short quiz on Friday covering everything from Lessons 1 through 3.
Reminder: Please make sure all homework assignment are completed earlier in the week so you are fully prepared for Friday's quiz.

Compare the lifestyles of hunter-gatherers with those of settlers of early agricultural communities.
Describe how the developments of agriculture and metallurgy related to settlement, population growth, and the emergence of civilization.
Describe how history transmits culture and heritage and provides models of human character.
Identify the characteristics of civilization

Identify Neolithic settlements and explain the reason for their location.
Compare the lives of hunters and gatherers during the Paleolithic Age with the lives of people during the Neolithic Age.
Explain how the domestication of plants and animals created a stable food supply and led to important changes in shelter, communities, jobs, and trade.

Curriculum: Students in Greek 2 are working with the Γεια Χαρά! (Geia Hara) Level 3 curriculum, building on their previous knowledge and developing stronger skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Greek.
Upcoming Week – Lesson 1: This upcoming week, students will begin working on Lesson 1 of Γεια Χαρά! Level 3. Our focus will include:
Lesson 1 vocabulary – learning, reviewing, and using the new vocabulary in context
Lesson 1 grammar – reviewing and practicing the grammar concepts introduced in the lesson
Student Book – completing reading, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension activities
Activity Book – practicing and reinforcing the vocabulary and grammar learned in the Student Book
Speaking & Writing – using Lesson 1 vocabulary and grammar to create sentences and participate in classroom conversations
Grammar & Language Skills: Students will continue practicing verb conjugations and verb forms, nouns and articles, gender, adjectives and agreement, adverbs, question words, and sentence structure.
Communication: Students will use Greek through classroom conversations, partner activities, reading comprehension, listening exercises, questions and answers, and short written responses.
Vocabulary: Vocabulary from previous lessons will continue to be reviewed while students learn and practice the new vocabulary from Lesson 1.
Assessments: Students will have a test approximately every other week covering vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills practiced in class.
Florida World Language Standards: Lessons incorporate the Florida World Language Standards with emphasis on Interpretive Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Presentational Communication, Culture, and Connections.
Our Goal: Our goal is for students to move beyond basic Greek and become more confident in creating their own sentences, participating in conversations, understanding written and spoken Greek, and expressing their ideas more independently.
