Placer County Reads was proud to participate in Placer Valley, bringing our countywide literacy initiative to one of the region’s premier gatherings of business, government, and community leaders. Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to share our vision of empowering literacy for all, connect with community partners, and highlight the collective efforts taking place across Placer County to support readers of every age. The day was filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a shared commitment to strengthening our communities through literacy.
Rocklin Elementary Family Literacy Night
March 19, 2026
Placer County Reads was excited to join Rocklin Elementary’s Family Literacy Night, connecting with students and families through activities that celebrated reading and literacy. Students had the opportunity to select a free book to take home and participate in an activity where they wrote their personal reading goals on a bookmark and decorated it. Throughout the evening, we shared information about the Placer County Reads initiative, connected with families, and promoted upcoming literacy events happening across the county. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of reading, support family engagement, and strengthen our community’s commitment to literacy for all.
First Annual Blankets and Books Event
September 10, 2025
Families from across Placer County gathered for our inaugural Blankets and Books event, an evening dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading and learning together. Superintendent Gayle Garbolino-Mojica and Associate Superintendent Jennifer Hicks joined several members of the Placer County Board of Education to help welcome families and kick off this special community event. With stories, literacy activities, and time spent reading together, Blankets and Books created a warm and inviting space for families to connect, build literacy-rich memories, and celebrate the power of reading.
