Early Learning and Childcare

As the Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare was paused by the Scottish government due to COVID-19, we will only be offering sessions between 9am-3pm in Term 1. This will then be reviewed.

Your child should attend on the pattern you were allocated by Perth and Kinross Council, but within these hours. Please see table below. Please note, if you applied for (and were allocated) 9-3pm Term Time only, your hours will remain unchanged.

All RETURNING children will resume at Nursery week beginning Wednesday 12 August as a phased return.

First week of term (Returning children ONLY):

Monday 10 August - INSET day (school closed to pupils)

Tuesday 11 August - INSET day (school closed to pupils)

Wednesday 12 August - Group A

Thursday 13 August - Group B

Friday 14 August - Group B

Second week of term:

ALL returning children will start the Nursery sessions they were allocated on Monday 17 August (within the hours of 9-3pm). Please see the table below.

Third / Fourth week of term:

NEW children will be allocated a start date fortnight beginning Monday 24 August. At Kinross Nursery, we have always offered staggered starts for new children so that a full induction with both child and parent / carer can take place with staff during their first session. Start dates were issued at the end of last session.

Blended placements

In order to minimise the number of contacts and risk of transmission, attendance at multiple ELC settings should be reduced as far as possible. Parents and carers should be encouraged and supported to limit the number of settings their child attends, ideally ensuring their child only attends the same setting consistently.

However, the balance of scientific advice supports the use of more settings where required to ensure high quality childcare is available to children and in support of parents’ need. For children who attend multiple settings, either ELC settings or childminders, consideration should be given to how they are supported to ensure good hygiene practices (washing hands, not sharing resources, etc.) when moving between settings, and how their contacts with other groups of children are managed, based on an appropriate risk assessment in each setting.
