Preparing for the start of the new school term

Following the update from the Deputy First Minister last week (30 July), we are now in a position to update you on the reopening of school / nursery on Wednesday 12 August. The COVID-19 Advisory Sub-Group on Education and Children’s Issues has published scientific advice on physical distancing in schools. The advice states: “Subject to continued suppression of the virus, and to surveillance and mitigations being in place, the balance of the evidence suggests that no distancing should be required between children in primary schools." Therefore, 100% of children will be returning in August.
Our plans for reopening have been informed by the latest Scottish Government advice for school and early years settings. Please see below direct links to both documents for your information. Parents / carers may wish to familiarise themselves with this.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance on reopening early learning and childcare services
In order to support the safe return of pupils and staff to Kinross Primary School, we would ask that all parents / carers read the following guidance and our plans for reopening school / nursery. These plans will be updated and reissued should any further guidance come from Scottish Government or our Local Authority.
Phased return of pupils 12-14 August 2020 - The first week of the new term will be a phased return to school. This will enable focused time for induction for new pupils and reorientation back into the school building for current pupils. Please see the attached relevant pages for full details on Nursery, Primary 1 and P2-7 phased return.
Information about the return of schools will continue to be published on Perth and Kinross Council website, where an FAQs page regarding reopening of Schools and Nurseries has been developed, please click here . The council will also continue to distribute the latest information through it's Twitter and Facebook sites.

Thanks to you all for your support and continued understanding, it is very much appreciated. We recognise that it may be challenging for pupils, parents and staff to return to school after such a long time away. It is therefore essential that we continue to work together to ensure a safe transition back to school for all. We have tried to plan for all contingencies, however, this is an unprecedented situation. It is likely that we will need to review and adapt plans on an ongoing basis and would appreciate your continuing patience and understanding with this.
