In order to take Spanish for A Level you must take it for GCSE.
GCSE Spanish Language learning is beneficial for the development of many skills including communication, building confidence, promoting tolerance using cognitive skills and problem solving. The GCSE course builds upon the Year 7 & 8 topics familiar to students and aims to increase their in fluency, grammatical accuracy and ability to express themselves in Spanish. As well as linguistic progress, students develop an insight into another culture and the history, customs and habits of communities of Spanish-speaking countries.

What would I enjoy about Spanish?
Students who pick Spanish enjoy learning new aspects of the language and developing their language skills to their full potential enabling them to communicate in a variety of contexts with confidence. Students often enjoy creative writing and role plays. Lessons are fun and engaging to help them learn verb tenses and other aspects of Spanish grammar. They will also enjoy learning interesting topics about the culture and history of Spanish speaking countries.

Paper 1 Listening Exam – 35 minutes (F), 45 minutes(H) 50 marks 25%

Paper 3 Reading Exam - 45 minutes (F), 60 minutes (H) 50 marks 25%
Paper 4 Writing Exam – 70 minutes (F), 80 minutes (H) 60 marks 25%
