Description: Design and create a pair of animal figurines utilizing recycled bottle corks. Students design on Tinkercad and prototype using the 3D printers. The design process consists of brainstorming, researching, CADding, 3D printing, and repeating until students are happy with their final project.
Brainstorm: I choose to do a snowman and a cat because I saw a winter aesthetic board on Pinterest and I was inspired by it.
Process:
1) Choose and measure the cork
2) Create rings on Tinkercad using the measurements
3) Test the rings and see if they fit
4) Build your cork animal designs
5) Print and see if they fit
6) Coutinue to adjust your 3D design until you are satisfied and it fits
WISCR:
W-Well Rounded
I think I was well rounded because I focused on all aspects of the project and worked on them.
I-Insightful and Critical Thinker
I was an insightful and critical thinker because Tinkercard and 3D printing requires precision so you get measurements and dimensions exactly right. I also had to problem solve since some of my designs didn't work.
S-Self Motivated Individuals
I was self-motivated since this project requires a lot of work, so I definitely pushed myself to do my best, although I think that I still could have done better.
C-Clear Communicaters
I could've done better with the deadlines and getting things done on time.
R-Respectful Individuals of Character
I think I was respectful towards everybody while working on this project.
SOUL:
S-What worked
I had a good idea for my animals and enjoyed working with Tinkercad. My designs all printed pretty well.
O-What didn't work
It was hard for me to get the measurements right, so I had to keep on reprinting my cork pal project so it would fit, so I wasn't able to meet the deadline.
U-What did you learn
I learned how to plan my time better so I can meet deadlines.
L-What prevented you from having a successful project
I didn't use my time efficiently enough, and I had trouble gauging the correct measurements for my cork pals.
These are the rings that I printed so I would know what measurments to use.
