Description: Groups of three students work together to make a candy skittles dispenser made from either wood or 3D print, activated by a microbit servo. The dispenser should dispense 5-10 skittles at a time.
My group was me, Kitty, and Kimberly. We used Tinkercad to make the dispenser and used a Microbit to control it.
This is the middle of the candy dispenser. It is hollow so it can store skittles. The opening in the top is for the lid, and the small opening in the bottom is covered by a flap that is controlled by the microbit, and when the flap opens, the skittles to go through.
This is the bottom part of the candy dispenser, the skittles come through from the part on top of it, the image I previously showed, and the skittles come through the ramp for people to grab.
This is the lid, the very top part of the candy dispenser. This makes it so that people can add or take out skittles. The skittles on top of the lid are also good decoration and add to the theme.
SOUL:
S-What Worked:
I think that our design definitly worked, and everything fit the requirements.
O-What didn't work:
We were having trouble with the microbit code, and we also had trouble getting the door mechanism to work correctly. The opening for the skittles to come out at the bottom part of our design was also not working, so we had to lasercut it to make it bigger and then touch up on it after.
U-What did you learn:
I learned how to design a product, code a microbit for it, and how to brainstorm to fix problems.
L-What prevented you from having a successful project:
We weren't that exprienced in microbit so we had trouble coding it properly.
WISCR:
W- Well rounded
I think I was well rounded because I had to make a 3D design, code a microbit, attach everything together, and make the project come together.
I- Insightful
I think I was insightful, since I have to percieve the intricacies of the design and buidling, and also have insight so I can see what works so that I can do my best work and colloborate the best.
S-Self Motivated
I think I was self motivated because without the teacher constantly watching over us and giving us instructions, me and my group were still motivated to work and try our best to make a good design that worked.
C- Critical Thinker
I think that I did apply critical thinking, since I had to think about the design and how to make it work, not to mention how to apply the microbit and code into the 3D design too.
R-Respectful Character
I think I was a respectful character, since I was respectful towards the project, materials, and people during this project.
