Resources in Focus
Our library continues its mission of sparking curiosity, creating connections, and empowering learners.
Each morning, we greet a large number of students as they begin their day with us. On an average day, over a hundred students visit to meet with peers, print assignments, and check out books before school starts.
Throughout the day, students come to the library during their study halls to work, collaborate, or simply relax with classmates. This quarter, we had more than 5,062 students join us for study hall. In addition, we hosted over 250 classes in the library. These included English classes for library orientations, independent reading, informative conceptual speech research, Spanish-American war and imperialism research, Islamic advancements in the medieval and middle-ages, Spanish-speaking cultures, and the foundations of American Government.
In our first quarter, we recorded over 1,340 circulations. We have added 264 new titles since the start of the new year.
Yellowface – R.F. Kuang
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption – Laura Hillenbrand
The Maze Runner – James Dashner
We Were Liars – E. Lockhart
A Forgery of Fate – Elizabeth Lim
Children of Radium: A Buried Inheritance - Joe Dunthorn
Divine Rivals – Rebecca Ross
Enigma Girls: how ten teenagers broke ciphers, kept secrets, and helped win World War II – Candace Fleming
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – Mark Haddon

For students: Looking for the next good read? The new lists for the Mountain Laurel Award (formerly the PA Young Readers Choice) and YALSA Teen Top 10 are released. These titles were voted on by teens across the state (Mountain Laurel Award) and the country (YALSA Teen Top 10). Hesitant about reading? We also have many titles from ALA's Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers. Look for our displays, posters and bookmarks or Destiny collections to find these titles.
