Then register for the AMC!! All interested students, please complete the Google Form. Space is limited, so please sign up by Friday, September 25th. I am also attaching a website with access to practice problems. I will be holding practice sessions in my room starting in October. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Enjoy tackling challenging problems, developing your own ideas, and learning from experts? SigmaCamp’s Problem of the Month (POM) is a free international math and science competition for students ages 11-17. Each month, students tackle original problems in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Linguistics, and more. POM is designed to challenge students in ways traditional schoolwork often does not. For example, this September, students design and build a device from household materials that keeps a chicken egg floating for as long as possible.

Students receive personalized feedback from our team of professors, industry professionals, and students at leading universities such as MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and the University of Toronto. Students can earn monthly gift-card prizes for creative and high-effort solutions, and top eligible scorers can receive direct admission to our SigmaCamp, SigmaWest, and SigmaNext summer camps. POM runs September through December. The first problems are due September 30, but students can join at any point!

Math Madness

Anyone interested in forming a MATH MADNESS Team?

Math Madness is a math competition event held yearly in the United States. The event is divided into 1 practice round, 4 league/scrimmage rounds, and 6 bracket tournament rounds. For the majority of the event, students compete individually (from inside their own account) but as part of a team, at the same time together. The system arranges all matches for all rounds. Each match involves 2 teams and each round lasts 1 week. All matches are 30 minutes in length.

If the day/time for a team to play is the same as its opponent's, the match is live with both team scores updating in real time on the student's scoreboard. If teams cannot find a common time to compete, then each team plays at the time convenient for it, with final results posting after both teams have played. The student's individual score always updates in real time as questions are answered correctly.

Each match includes 7-8 multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank questions. Team score is calculated by summing the top 5 individual scores. Content at the high school level is primarily aligned with AMC 10/12.

The participation fee will be determined by how many students register for our team, but could be up to $35 for the season.

Please let Dr. Poole know ASAP if you are interested in committing to the season, as we will have to register our team next week.
