sparking curiosity
In the Grade 5 Author Village project, students are tasked with designing and constructing miniature homes representing their favorite authors. Working in partner groups, students researched their authors and then created diorama-style homes with 3 or 4 rooms, each room focusing on different aspects of the author's life and work. Rooms are designated to explore the author's personal life, writing career, and a book they've written, with an optional room for student choice. The project encourages creativity and research skills while engaging students in literary exploration and artistic expression. The Author Village is a work progress with classes finishing the project at different times.
