Welcome to an exciting year in the library! For the first time this year, students will visit the library as part of the encore rotations. This class meets every 10 days and rotates with the World Languages class. 

Learning Goals

This encore class is designed specifically for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to become confident researchers and passionate, lifelong readers.

• Independent Navigation: As students progress from 4th to 6th grade, they will transition from guided browsing to mastering the library catalog, understanding the shelving systems, and locating materials entirely on their own.

• Information Literacy: We will dive into structured research projects, and I will teach students how to safely navigate digital information, evaluate sources for credibility, and gather facts effectively.

ELA Connections 

• Interactive Book Talks: Regular book talks will introduce students to different genres, new authors, and exciting titles that complement their ELA curriculum and expand their reading horizons.

• Curated Library Displays: We will feature dedicated, rotating book displays that tie directly into current ELA units and seasonal themes, making it easy for students to find relevant and engaging material.

The library is open for independent visits from 8:20 until 3:10.  Any student in any grade, with permission from their teacher, can visit the library.
