Lost/Damaged Materials
Every situation is unique and our highest priority is to make sure EHUE students have access to books and resources at their time of need. Having overdue, damaged, or lost materials will not prevent students from checking out library books.
Overdue Books
No fines are assessed for overdue books
Students may keep library books for 10 school days (usually two weeks unless we have scheduled days off)
Library books can be renewed one time. If more than one renewal is needed talk to Mrs. S. or Mrs. G.
Students may return/exchange their books at any time.
There is no charge for overdue books.
Students may still check out books even if they have an overdue book.
Damaged Items
A fine to replace the book might be assessed if the book cannot be repaired.
If a library book has been damaged, bring it to the library immediately for repairs.
Please DO NOT TRY TO REPAIR THE BOOK in any way.
If we can repair the book and it can continue to be used, no fine will be assessed.
A fine might be assessed if the book is beyond repair.
Lost Items
A fine is usually assessed. 😥
Students may request that an item be marked as lost if they can't find it.
Items that have not been returned by the end of the school year will be marked as lost.
Parents will receive a written notice of fines (via both email and "snail mail") for lost materials at the end of the school year.
When the materials are checked in the fine will be deleted. The fine may also be waived at the discretion of the librarian.
Found books can be returned to EHUE at any time but they may not be checked in immediately.
Payment of fines
Option 1- A replacement copy can be purchased. The book should be a new hardback version of the title, ideally with the same ISBN.
Option 2-A check made payable to "Pine-Richland School District" can be mailed to or dropped off at EHUE. Please include the student's name and the title(s) of the book(s).
Email Mrs. Shenefiel if the payment/replacement would cause a hardship.
Reimbursement of Fines
If payment by check is made and the book is found within one school year a reimbursement will be given.
If a replacement copy has been purchased, no reimbursement will be given.
