creating connections
Connecting ELA to art, Mrs. Mahsoob's class created "Three Things" poems in ELA class as part of their study of Jacqueline Woodson's Locomotion. After the poems were completed the classes came to the Think Tank at the library to create a piece of artwork that would visualize thier poem. The words to the poem were part of the artwork. Students could create two dimensional or three dimentional artwork.
empowering learners
Students were given the opportunity to investigate one of several projects: Sphero, Little Bits, Origami, paper circuits, Makerspace machines, video production, animation and stop-motion animation.
They started with tinering to learn about the activity. Then they planned a project wich they are currently completing. Students used library resources, tutorials and online guides to complete as much of the work independently as possible.

As she grew up, Annette swam in Australia andEngland and America and beyond, performing synchronized swimming-which she invented!-and competing in swim races and diving exhibitions. But always she was bogged down by her heavy swim clothes. Clothes that only women had to wear, not men. So Annette designed her own swim costume. And then, she fought for the right to wear it-and for the right for all women to feel free
