Take your studies seriously. Set academic goals for the year. A strong Grade Point Average (GPA) starts now! Remember that you are building your record for college admission beginning in your freshmen year.
Get Involved in the Upper School. Explore extracurricular opportunities. Look for extracurricular activities, leadership positions, community service, honors, awards, summer experiences, and jobs. Create a system for documenting these events (your Academic Resume) and update each semester.
Evaluate your grades each marking period and determine what you are doing well and what you need to improve. Attend extra help sessions.
Register on the PLP Family Connection website and complete all the tasks assigned.
Attend the PLP Freshmen College Planning session in the fall with a parent(s). An overview of the planning process is provided.
Meet with your PLP College Planning Counselor during second semester, to discuss your four-year academic and extracurricular plan.
Create a list of colleges you are interested in as well as possible areas of study.
