Mandatory High School Courses

Mandatory High School Courses

PAN offers reduced or free (grant pending) tuition for the fall and spring semesters. PAN’s charter has high school courses which support students in the college environment. These courses cover what students need to know to be successful at PAN, as a college student, and for their careers beyond. Students must pass these to continue in the PAN Dual Enrollment program:

Introduction to College - This is a 2 week course taken prior to the start of CSN courses. Students returning to PAN for their senior year must take the course again or earn an exemption. Exemptions for 2nd year may be earned by taking a summer college course or submitting 60 hours of volunteer service/school activity at a pre-approved, nonprofit location on time. Double service hours will be offered for high performing seniors willing to guest speak.

Study Skills - This is a course that focuses on supporting students in the college environment. Attendance is mandatory for all first year dual enrollment students. Students who have 4 or more excused/unexcused per semester absences will fail the course. Students who have extenuating circumstances for missing sessions should contact the Study Skills instructor for a required student/parent meeting within one week after the absence or the student fails the course. Students who miss Study Skills will be subject to rigorous make up work outlined in the course syllabus. Extenuating circumstances do not include skipping class, family vacations, athletic events, or transportation issues, etc. The grade includes in class activities, online enhancement exercises, test prep assessments, attendance, and portfolio.
