Principles Illustrated: Interference and Diffraction
Location: Cabinet G, Shelf 4
A large laser is used to illuminated single-slit and double-slit slides. The pattern is displayed on the classroom wall.
Slides of slits of various dimensions and spacing are commonly used.
A variable slit apparatus is available...change the slit width smoothly to show the change in pattern.
Slides with various pinhole patterns, fresnel patterns and multiple slits are also available.
Principles Illustrated: Interference
Location: Cabinet G, Shelf 3
Two ground glass plates are pressed together. Light passing though shows interference effects (rings) due to small differences in path length.
Principles Illustrated: Spectra and diffraction grating
Location: Cabinet G, Shelf 2
A variety of gases are available. Students are given diffraction glasses. Spectra of the various gases can be viewed.
