Principles Illustrated: Electric Field
Location: Back Counter
Strands from the pom-pom carrying static charge align with the field lines of the Van de Graff generator.
This Digital Multi-Meter has large LED numerals, easily visible in our largest classes.
Either the Tek 465 (used in Upper Division labs) or the Tek 2225 (used in 2CL and 1CL labs) oscilloscope is available for various lecture demos.
Principles Illustrated: Series and Parallel circuits
Location: Cabinet F, Shelf 3
Demonstrate the voltages and currents in parallel and series circuits.
This demo is designed for use on an overhead projector.
Principles Illustrated: Time Constant of RC Circuit
Location: Cabinet F, Shelf 4
A capacitor bank is wired in series with a light bulb. A switch is used to charge and discharge the circuit. The bulb dims as the circuit goes through the RC time constant.
The demonstration DMM can be used in place of the bulb for more accurate information due to the performance characteristics of the bulb.
Additionally, a separate demonstration uses a function generator to demonstrate charging and discharging of an RC circuit. The resulting voltage signature may be viewed on an oscilloscope and displayed over the document cam.
