4-5
4th and 5th Grade
As we move from the early elementary grades towards the Middle School years, we're exploring new understandings around independence and responsibility. We will use a range of materials, from the research-based Second Step curriculum, to the identity work of educators like Sara Ahmed and others. The SEL classroom will be a space to breathe, discuss, problem-solve, and process.
SEL "Choice Time" will be embedded in every class. This is a time where students will get to choose from a variety of self care strategies such as yoga, meditation, art therapy, sensory activities, and much more. We are hoping this will encourage students to build a "toolkit" of strategies to care for themselves inside and outside of school.
