Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and evaluated for prior experience credit. Prior experience is based on proof of experience in the field of plumbing, and must be verified by employers. Based on prior experience, an apprentice may expect the program to take the following time to qualify for a journeyman license:
No prior experience - 3.5 years
6 months experience (1,000 verifiable hours) - 3 years
1 year experience (2,000 verifiable hours) - 2.5 years
1.5 years experience (3,000 verifiable hours) - 2 years*
2 years experience (3,500 verifiable hours) - 1.5 years**
The following detailed table reflects the initial month of enrollment in the first column, with the program placement in the first row (based on prior credit awarded), with the projected number of months in the program and final month of graduation in the corresponding blocks.
*Apprentices qualify for the Residential-Limited License after 3,000 verifiable hours)
**Note that the maximum prior credit that may be awarded is 3,500 hours.
