City Explorers allows youth ages 5-13 to explore all things Somerville and beyond. From discovering hidden gems to touring as many parks in Somerville as possible, with trips to the pool at Foss Park to cool down. And, of course, field trips every Friday. There will be a new theme every week, which includes social and emotional learning with educational; yet fun activities. Somerville is our playground, awaiting new explorers. We provide transportation services for summer school students from Somerville Public Schools and Prospect Hill Academy. City Explorers runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. MIT is launching a FREE, in-person two (or three) week STEAM summer program for rising 6th – 9th graders! The program runs July 31 – August 11, with the option to extend till August 18. PHA students had such a positive experience during our virtual programs, so I’m hoping that some might be interested in joining in person! Can you please share this information with the middle school teachers, students and families?
I’ve attached a flier for our program, and our website is: https://fullsteam.mit.edu/full-steam-ahead-into-summer-2023/. Students can learn more and apply there.

Sign up for Boston Debate League's FREE summer camp from July 17 - August 11 at Madison Park HS, open to all students at BDL schools regardless of prior debate experience. At camp, students primarily participate in debate-style activities to help them learn advocacy and argumentation skills, but there are also plenty of community-building games, outdoor activities, and field trips to places like the Museum of Science. Again the camp is totally FREE for our students. Breakfast and lunch are included for free as well. If you are looking for something for your student(s) to do over the summer, we'd love to have them join us! More info and signup here: https://www.bostondebate.org/debatecamp/

Creator Club is designed where students can attend one week, or multiple and get two uniquely rewarding experiences!
Each week each team produces a piece of content based on a prompt, the prompt is a surprise to everyone day one of camp. Our week from there focuses on team building, problem solving and realistic goal setting, all while students have the freedom to completely shift gears and try one of our many options for media creation! (Options include Stop-motion Animation, Short films, Podcasts, Comedy Skits, Songs, Live Shows, YouTube Channels and more!)
Multi-week students end up utilizing their experience to refine their planning process, and once again try to create content based on the mystery theme!
The ‘Pro’ weeks are just to provide our growing family of experienced creators, an opportunity to work with other creators that have used a camera at home to edit a video before. So, I would really say those weeks are simply not entry level, but creators who have done similar work from home would fit right in!
If this sounds like a fit for your young creator and you want even MORE details... SIGN UP HERE!
