FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

at pha, we strive to make Family Engagement an equitable partnership among families and educators to promote children’s learning and development.

At PHA, we believe that a partnership between home and school is absolutely essential to ensuring student success.  And we believe that ALL adults - teachers, parents, staff, uncles, aunties, grandparents, older siblings, all caregivers - can work together to support all PHA students in thriving academically, socially, and emotionally.  Studies show that students whose parents are involved in their education are more likely to have higher test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school (Henderson and Mapp 2002; National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education 2006). We each play important roles in guiding our children’s education, advocating for our children’s success, monitoring our children’s progress, and maybe most importantly communicating our hopes and our high expectations. And we honor our families as our students’ first teachers.   Prospect Hill Academy recognizes the great responsibility we have to initiate partnerships between home and school, and we use a number of methods to bring forth and gather family input and help families support their children’s learning.

WE ARE IMPROVING OUR FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PRACTICE ALL OF THE TIME
