Community Service board & Mental Health Services
Should you, your student, or any member of your family need Emergency Mental Health services during this time you can call our local Community Service Board - District 19 - at 804-862-800. Their buildings are currently closed to the public, but are reachable by phone to assist as needed. Visit their website for the most up to date information.
If there is a Mental Health Emergency in your home you may also call 911 for assistance.
For non-emergency mental health services, please check with your provider as to what their current procedures are. Many counselors, though not seeing patients in their offices, are able to meet with patients and provide services via virtual methods that uphold necessary HIPPA requirements. Maintaining mental health services during this time of isolation and uncertainty may be essential for many students and adults alike.
Finally, a multitude of resources can be found through the National Alliance on Mental Illness website.
